International Camel Festival Bikaner 2018: Day One

Ship of The Desert: Camel, Rising High

We never know how a day will unfold. The way today unfolded, I loved that. The morning was as usual as any other day but the evening turned out to be one of the best. It was the first time ever when I was allowed to go to any of the public gatherings on my own and it was the first time ever when I was given DSLR on my own responsibility and it went amazing. So, I went to the 25th International Camel Festival held here in Bikaner and it was an incredible experience. It felt wonderful to decide where to go and where to not, what is good and what is not and not to follow your elders in every thing.

Today I felt proud of the Rich and Royal Culture of Rajasthan. It was a whole new world to the people there. for me too. Some were fantasized and some themselves were fantasies. They showed how beautiful and important animals are to the rural people and should be to us too.

It's rightly said that Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Many of us may not consider our country as a perfect one but still, it's one of the loveliest places to live in.

In the Festival, I met a French tourist Francois. We had some conservation and I got to know his thoughts about our country. So he told me that he find people here to be of friendly nature, unlike Europe where people are reluctant to talk to any stranger and straightaway they think of the purpose of anyone coming towards them instead of thinking about his genuineness. Leave what happens in Europe and cherish the happiness of having happy visitors in India. Francois is on his second trip to India. He loves the way people come and talk to him. He has observed that villagers are a bit shy but still opens up when they interact with him while people in cities are much more friendly. One more thing in which our thoughts were mutual was the meaning and purpose of travelling. we both believe that it is visiting different places and interacting with new people and locals different from your niche is something worth doing. He seemed to be a perfect traveller as he told me the way he travelled Kashmir on his last visit to the country in 2016 and he did it on foot. It was amazing to hear and would be much more amazing to experience. So if he loves our country, then we should we not. instead of cribbing about what is not right in the country, we should celebrate its uniqueness. We should actually love each other and kill the hatred for good. The country will become stronger in itself once we appreciate it for what it is.

Later, he told me about conscription in France, Switzerland, and Germany. In France, they are now free to opt for Military or civil services and in Germany too they can opt while in Switzerland it is compulsory to join Military for men. He told me this as he thought there is conscription in India too because I told him that I will go for civil services after graduation.

It felt good as today an unknown man from far land became a little known to me. And it was good to get his views on our country and about us. So, in the end, we parted our ways with a selfie.
Hope I see you soon Francois!!
