Do We Need Old Age Homes ?
India is a country where parents are God to their children. In this fast moving modern India , children have changed the definition of Parents. Now, for many of them parents are not God , they are burden . Should they be?
In 60s and 70s , old age homes were like water in a desert . So few that people didn't even knew their existence . But the scenario has changed , especially in urban cities. The reason of the change in mentality is that people have started taking parents as a burden and have started to discredit them, instead of blessings and responsibility. They have lost emotions which are important part of any relationship. These people have lost their values in order to conquer the materialistic valuables of the world. In last one or two decades, people have changed their primary objective of living , giving love and getting love, giving respect and getting respect and giving happiness and getting tons of happiness in return. But they have started to look for happiness for a while rather than happiness for life.
The above picture is a year old and the things are not much better now. Most of such elderlies say, they only want their children's love and little time of theirs. They expect their kids to give them back what they gave to them, in the time when they need it the most .
The important part is the love and time which old people expect and young people don't have time and love dies in the money they give time for. And this is becoming the reason of increasing old age homes . The only way to reduce this increase , is to give more importance to values than valuables , happiness for life instead of happiness for a while and giving them love and time , in return getting a peaceful mind and soulful life.
